That is more to the point. However, I've read that there are some significant short positions that are in need of covering with each of these rallies, which of course exacerbates the rally.

Still, this market is really more of a trader's market and the daytraders are getting in and out rapidly. Institutions that are looking for values are using this to add/subtract to their positions at points of significance.
