A few months ago I heard Bernard Lewis argue, in a PBS interview with ????, that peace was impossible in the MidEast unless both Hussein and Arafat were removed from power.

Wish I had taped it, but the interview was about the book, "What Went Wrong," review here: oup-usa.org

I second Tejek's points...it is clear that there is overwhelming non support for this adventure outside the US. For the Saudis specifically...the administration has been saying that they could not openly support but had privately given approval of an invasion. Did Rumsfeld make that up? You "trust" the objectivity of the current administration on this?
