thanks for the article, Paul- I just had time to read it.

I was wondering if the Netscape IPO in 1995 or the 300mm$ Amazon Xmas season in 1998 was the beginning of the "bubble". I see now that in your terms, the Netscape IPO was the bubble, and perhaps the Amazon Xmas was the "mania" phase.

We had one of these mini-bubbles in SV 20 years ago, when I was a kid. The companies involved were Apple, Kaypro, Atari, Commodore, Osbourne etc. I guess the dollars involoved were so small in comparison to the current situation, nobody feels that it is worth analyzing. Apple stock did fall from the 60s to the single digits though... to me this hangover feels the same as that one, only bigger. But of my acquainances and coworkers I am the only one who witnessed this, being a local to N Ca and a berkeley student at the time. Consequently, now I'm the only optimist in the bunch!

Paul,

Let us know when the next article is out (Harvest).

Also, I can't find the link to the June 2002 Part 2 article on Network Appliance. Please post.

Thanks,
Ketan
