Ted here is the results from the poll you didn't want to scroll through.

19. Do you think most government affirmative action programs
in hiring, promoting, and college admissions should be continued
as they are, or should these affirmative action programs be limited?

As for gun control a lot depends on exactly what question you ask and how you phrase the question. You CNN link shows a majority supporting the NRA while at the same time arguing for more control of guns is a perfect example of this.

"American Voters Overwhelmingly Agree with Justice Department:
Individuals Have Right to Bear Arms

A wide majority of American voters (75%) agree with the Justice Department’s position that the Second Amendment guarantees the right of individuals to keep and bear arms. Just over a fifth (22%) disagree with the Justice Department, while 4% are unsure."

and

America: It's Our
Right to Bear Arms
ABCNEWS.com Poll Finds Most
Support Individuals' Right to Own Guns

more.abcnews.go.com

both show strong majorities for 2nd ammendment rights.

The abc link also shows a poll supporting a majority favoring more gun control laws but it shows this majority declineing from 67% to 57% over the last two years and the percent who strongly favor more gun control laws going from 50% to 39% in the same time frame.

But its not just about majorities. Even if a majority is for gun control (and I don't think its clear that this is so) CNN and Network news programs often treat those who battle gun control or support 2nd ammendment rights not just as a realtivly mainstream idea that they happen to disagree with but rather as if anyone who thinks the 2nd ammendment gives you an individual right to bear arms is treaty as an extrememist or even a lunatic. But the ABC poll shows that even registered Democrats, by a slim majority, feel there is a person constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
