<Maurice will probably be at the airport with his Yankees Go Home banner. >

More likely I'll have set up one of my offspring in a cdma2000 cyberspace rental booth so tourists can stay on line while they zoom around in 3D.

Anyway, sister-in-law and her American son will be visiting, along with other friends to watch America's Cup racing so it would be rude to sport Yankee Go Home banners even if I was so inclined.

When Bill Clinton was here [for APEC] I was sporting a UN flag and East Timor was the main issue. We are very polite in Kiwiland and visitors are welcome - even Saddam's stepson, Afghan refugees and even the odd Pommy Bastard. I have never seen or heard of a Yankee Go Home banner here though there have been seagoing demonstrations against nuke warships and submarines, back in the early 1980s.

Incidentally, David Lange, [1980s PM and Mangere Bridge villager - my home town], who ... well... never mind, the story is too long. But he has leukaemia and following heart bypass operations is NOT in good condition. I guess he is not long for this world. nzherald.co.nz

The future and fond hopes rapidly slip into the past and then disappear into archeology. One day, CDMA phones will be found in 2002 middens and archeologists will ponder such anachronisms.

Hmm, topical comment from David, given the security mania smothering the world [ineffectually]: fas.org

He became PM as my mother was losing consciousness into death in 1984 [metastatic breast cancer] - she was a keen supporter: primeminister.govt.nz
