Again, typical of Moslem and Jewish apologists, you attempt to distort the historical reality by choosing the aberration which was the 4th Crusade and avoiding the norm. The primary motive behind the Crusades was a defensive action to stop the 300 year old Moslem aggression against Christians in Europe, Jerusalem, North Africa and Asia Minor. There was never any attempt by the Christian forces to invade lands that had not been previously Christian. Unlike the Islamic aggressors, there was no attempt to forcibly convert any of the conquered peoples. Only by avoiding centuries of Moslem/Jewish aggression against the Christians of Spain, North Africa, Egypt, Jerusalem, Asia Minor, and the Balkans and focusing on the abnormal exceptions in the Crusades can you make a case for Moslem/Jewish cause. For almost four hundred years the aggression and brutality came 100% from the Moslems forces. They slaughtered and forcibly converted millions of Christians. There forces had penetrated all the way to Potier until being pushed back across the Pyrenees. Finally in 1090 the Christian people said enough and began and organize voluntary armies (crusaders) to stop the invades and liberate the occupied Christian lands. Urban's speech came only after the Christian people had already spontaneously begun to defend Christian Europe and organize campaigns to free former Christian lands which had been invaded and occupied by the Moslem/Jewish aggressors. Every single land and city that the Christian forces liberated had formerly been Christian areas converted by PERSUASION and not by coercion!
