One reason to buy the $2.50 05 LEAPS (and you can judge whether it's a sufficient one) is that with LEAPS a greater number of shares can be controlled with a given investment. Opposing this though is the fact that your LEAP investment expires, while a stock purchase does not.
In my book, when the stock and LEAP price is so close (.90 agains $1.48), the additional leverage simply doesn't justify the expiration risk. But, to each his own.
