Another possible disaster lurking in the shadows is locusts. In South Central SD, they have more grasshoppers per acre than they've seen in a long long time. If the dryness keeps up this month; They could possibly end up with a swarm of lucusts.
I think many have already cashed in on their crop insurance on their corn in that same area. Won't effect corn prices as everybody grows corn everywhere. I think eastern SD's corn is doing ok. But don't know for sure.
