Gee, you found an article defending the decision as if there haven't been a thousand books and articles calling it the worst decision ever such as:

Regardless, that article doesn't even try to explain how interpreting the equal protection to prevent unequal treatement of overvote and undervotes and to require uniform standards of determining a voter's intent cannot be satisfied by (i)counties using diferrent machines which have different error rates for counting overvotes and undervotes, (ii) a statute that allows smaller counties to do manual recounts when larger ones can't due to the stats's deadlines, (iii) not counting overvotes or undervotes if such show intent as that is what Florida law defines as a legal vote.

That article doesn't explain how the conservative wing can justify the decision by precedent or history, particularly history which is what they have been claiming is the only legitimate interpretive method. Unles, of course, you want to get you candidate elected.
