OMD then chimed in with an attack piece on me.

I don't recall attacking you Laz.....I posted a couple of things more than a week ago that were intended to be a humorous jibe at some of the labelling that goes on here by many people......and if it offended or came across as an attack I apologize. I do respect your opinions and, as we established a few days back, actually seem to agree with many of them. <g>

I also work with a couple of people who could greatly benefit from your Liberal Reeducation Camp. ;-)

"OMD then chimed in with an attack piece on me. Then you got into it."

Sometimes you interpret things like a novice. And of course you are not. Indeed, I have heard very good things about you. E has spoken well of you to me regarding certain situations, which is one of the reasons I am always willing to cut you an incredible amount of intellectual slack...;-)

With respect to Iraq, I think it is appropriate to consider the possible casualties in thinking the issue through completely. But I think we have a tendency to overestimate the number of casualties we will suffer in dealing with him (the only maneuver that Saddam's "elite" troops had much practice in was the hasty retreat) and underestimate the potential consequences of not dealing with him.

I also think that others of his ilk, perhaps emboldened by the success of Sept. 11, could use a little example.

As I stated on the other thread, however, the action should come after some disclosure of evidence about WMD development. I am of the belief that we probably have such evidence, but if we don't we had better disclose it to get at least a modest amount of support in the civilized world. The "civilized world" is a phrase, BTW, that does not include any of Iraq's neighbors with the possible exception of Turkey.
