...so you are telling me that Citigroup is not going to show options expense on the profit and loss statement -- do I have that right?

Do you have that right? I don't know - what the hell are you talking about?

Are they writing options on their own stock in the open market? If so, then no, they would not show expense. Income either.

Are they granting options to employees? If so, then you'd have to ask them how they intend to account for them.

Are they writing options on someone else's stock? If so, then yes - they'd book the profit or loss on the trade just like anyone else.
