Hi RtS,

Be careful with Max Pain. Mishedlo on the old Zeev's Turnips thread has written some excellent posts on the use and abuse of Max Pain.

He's also staked out some rules. These include a sliding scale based on the approach of options expiration; the need to play only those stocks with the biggest options positions like CSCO, INTC, etc. (I doubt ALTR would fit); and other ways to optimise Max Pain as a guide to possible short-term market direction.

Looking at it that way, ALTR's Max Pain for Sept would not be predictive of anything at this point, for Max Pain will change constantly over time.

It's worth going back and reading some of his posts, which I believe also appear on Motley Fool.

Good luck.
Jonathan
