I listened to the Emulex call. There are certainly issues related directly to Emulex. The first is product shift from host bus adapters to ASICs (smaller revenues) supplied to IBM, which IBM will be integrating at the system board level going forward. The second is the transition issue from the HP/Compaq merger (orders spotty), which is the same problem Intel has seen.

However, I think the contagion Friday to Brocade will prove unwarranted. Combining HBA units and ASIC units, Emulex saw a 13% sequential rise in unit shipments.

We'll see when Brocade reports this week.
