It would have been well beyond the UN mandate. Further, it would have caused the immediate collapse of the coalition, on which we were then dependent
for enforcing the terms of the ceasefire.

I will be nice and remind you that Bush Jr does not have a UN mandate to attack Iraq. I will also remind you that he does not have a coalition at all. In fact, his "coalition" is on the other side of the fence unconvinced.

Not viable? Why?

It would have been well beyond the UN mandate. Further, it would have caused the immediate collapse of the coalition, on which we were then dependent for enforcing the terms of the ceasefire.

Finally, had Bush done so, the liberals would have skewered him politically making "Read My Lips" fade into obscurity as an insignficant remark.

Oh my God, Senor Bush Sr. was afraid of the big bad liberals. I don't think so.

Listen, I hear the makings of a whine starting to develop. Before it becomes a full fledge one, just know that things are going from bad to worse in this country and the people are becoming less polite about the mess. Your boy just ain't cutting the mustard.......I mean, how many times can he go off on weapons of mass destruction and people will buy it. So I would adjust your thinking accordingly.
