Right now we have huge amounts of trade with China. The country has drifted away from its Marxist ideology, and is slowly moving in our direction. We haven't traded fire with them for years.

I don't perceive the United States as being the enemy of China, but I do perceive that the hard-liners in the Chinese government perceive the United States to be the enemy of China. We are allied with Japan, whom they hate, we support Taiwan, which makes them feel angry and threatened, and we criticize them for their human rights violations, which infuriates them. Plus, they want dominance of the South China Sea and we don't want them to have it.

Selling arms to our enemies may seem like an excellent idea to them, but I consider it tantamount to a declaration of war. If Al Qaeda does obtain surface-to-air missiles from China, I would consider that to be precisely a declaration of war.
