JMatt to Kass: Not So Fast!

Doug, the Goldman analyst yapping about IBM is the same analyst who just today downgraded Emulex, who rode Sun Microsystems all the way down, and who has been a complete disaster in the tech stock-picking department. Much as I like her personally (she worked closely with Tim McCollum, the ace hedge fund pal of mine I have eulogized here), I wouldn't listen to her if she said the sun was going to rise tomorrow morning.
That said, anything can happen with IBM--the company that is just now opening a $3 billion fab in upstate New York that nobody needs; the company that enriched Lou Gerstner by half a billion dollars while it played every accounting game in the book to "make the numbers." Nobody cares about the details on this one, so let it rip!

IBM puts.

Break in! Goldman saying they just met with IBM management and the company has 5-10 large potential deals in the pipeline that might convert into contracts shortly. Several could be announced in next several weeks.
