One thing that we've done that really opened K's eyes to pricing of junk items....like Nike shirts and the 170$ shoes....

3 years ago we bought a "gentleman's farm".....6 acres and an old farm house..in the middle of an apple orchard...but very close to all the "city" attractions.

We decided to furnish the place with antiques...so we went to every auction within decent driving distance....

Some of the buys were incredible....I got a granite table with mahogony trim and chairs for about 200$....it takes 4 men to move it from one side of the room to the other....

For K, we give her some cash and let her bid on stuff that a 13 year old might want....Ice skates, games, colorful paperweights, old dolls...stuff like that.....when she spends 2$ on something that she knows would cost 30$ in a store...she looks at me and says....."this is the way to buy...I'm never paying retail"...and I just howl.......
