It's not the only trust fund that's been raided to disguise the size of our current deficits.

And, of course, the states have done exactly the same kinds of dishonest things - for example with pension asset grabs, or with misapplication of tobacco settlement funds.

Government's accounting standards would not be tolerated in the most 'Enron-like' of companies.

Now you're beginning to write like a Republican! In California, Governor Davis has stated, that California will build no more freeways. I guess that means that State Gas taxes will be reduced. lol

Don't you know that highway construction in metro areas leads to divided, uprooted neighborhoods, and urban blight? Don't you know that highway construction just encourages flight from urban centers and suburban sprawl? That highways lead to the overproduction of CO2, as commuters are encouraged to move further and further from the urban centers to formerly wilderness and agricultural areas? LOL! Can't help myself today...sorry
