Yes, Tender Mercies. One of my favorites, had to be made about my home town but the story was actually about Larry McMurtry's home town. Peter Bogdanovich's movie with Sybil Shepherd, The Last Picture Show. That's my world, at least, my world growing up.

Flat?? I spent a short period, 6 months, living around Petersburg, VA in the late 50s, completing an army requirement. The biggest impression on my were the trees. I would drive from Petersburg up to DC each weekend and could only stare at the trees.

One of my favorite movies is "Tender Mercies." When I watch it, I love the movie and shake my head at the geography. Sure is flat, isn't it? I never liked the place.

Bobby Duvall, one of my favorite actors. :)

Yeah, Texas is flatter than a worn out pancake. Not so bad if you live in the city though. Then you have the freeway ramps to relieve the monotony. :P
