Revenue growth rates............

I looked at the 1 - 10 year chart of revenues, which is shown in the URL below. What it suggests to me is that AMAT was the only cap-equip supplier with the capacity to fill the growth bubble of '99 and 2000.

If you extend a straight line from AMAT's 1998 revenue figure to the estimated 2002 figure, you get an overall revenue growth rate which pretty much parallels that of both KLAC & Novellus. It also shows that AMAT "hogged" most of the bubble growth of those years, probably because it was the only one with the capacity to do it. I'll make the suggestion that is what is happening now is that AMAT is simply returning to a more traditional % of market share between these 3 companies. Does this make sense?
