EC, thanks for the info and your time in answering my questions. I have done more research and have determined that owning some gold is a good idea.

Some more questions:

What is the best way to buy gold to get the most bang for the buck as gold goes up? Is it gold producers who are public on a stock exchange? If so which ones do you think are good ?

What is the recommended weighting for the actual gold portion of a portfolio in terms of gold stocks, certificates, physical (coins, bars and perhaps nuggets)?
