"what could the West have done about Eastern Europe at the end of World War II?"

It really is "woulda, coulda," Colbalt, and I love to play that game. Under the circumstances, not much. Roosevelt was convinced he could do business with "Uncle Joe," and would not listen to reason. By the time Truman took over, the geography was an accomplished fact in Europe. If Eisenhower had taken Berlin, Truman would have been in a much better position to deal with Stalin.

I think all of the comments we are hearing from "Spytrdr" are a "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" from him that Hitler was not so bad and we should have made him an ally and wiped out Stalin. I don't buy this position for a minute, and I wish he would drop it here.
