Why? They could do nothing. China has got the money and markets and Taiwan is dependent on China, so, China is in the box seat. They could use economic power to have a large influence.

I doubt that China would attack Taiwan. They'd probably just squeeze here and there - confiscate Taiwanese assets in China, restrict access in other ways.

There's no need to go ape.
