What's the problem? If Kashmiris decided to be independent, that's democracy

No complaints from me - an independant country that comprises the Kashmir thats occupied by India and Pakistan and China may well be the most stable outcome. The countries involved just wont allow it, IMO.

cheers, kumar

Hi Maurice Winn; Re: "Kumar, many countries declared independence from Britain and for the most part, it was accepted as the will of the populations involved."

Since the discussion point was Kashmir (i.e. "Same reason as, IF the people in Kashmir wanted their own country. Neither India nor Pakistan would allow it. doing nothing is a no-op." #reply-17860882 ), which is quite very close to both India and Pakistan, and Taiwan, which is quite very close to China, it might be useful to note that a great example of where Britain did not accept the will of the populations involved is Ireland, which happens, naturally, to be quite close to Britain.
