NEW BRUNSWICK SCIENTIFIC STREAMLINES EUROPEAN OPERATIONS
Edison, New Jersey, August 09, 2002—New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. (NBS) (Nasdaq:
NBSC), today announced a plan to streamline its European operations by consolidating the
management and administration of its European and United Kingdom sales and service
organizations under Gerry Burgers, the Managing Director of the Company’s continental
European operations based in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The current UK sales, sales support
and service operations will remain unchanged.
The Company also plans to consolidate its inventories of ultra-low temperature freezers by
establishing new warehousing facilities near its UK freezer production plant. This should enable
the Company to more efficiently support its growing freezer business and deliver freezers from
stock anywhere in the world, with the added benefit of enhancing its production planning
capabilities. The Company will also create a central warehouse for laboratory shakers,
fermentation and cell culture equipment at its European headquarters in Nijmegen where
additional capacity has recently been added.
James T. Orcutt, President of New Brunswick Scientific said, “We are looking forward to reaping
the benefits of this more efficient management structure, which has been designed to support
the Company’s growing European sales and is intended to improve operating efficiencies while
providing enhanced customer service.”
New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc., designs and manufactures a wide variety of research
equipment and scientific instruments for the life sciences and holds a minority equity position in

New Water-Jacketed Fermentor - Bioreactor Vessels
Provide Gentle, Even Temperature Control

Edison, New Jersey, July 24, 2002 - New Brunswick Scientific's autoclavable BioFlo 110® research fermentor/bioreactor is now available with uniquely designed water-jacketed vessels, offering an alternative to temperature control using heater-blankets. Both options provide precise, uniform regulation of media temperature inside the reactor vessel; water-jacketed vessels provide a more uniform vessel-wall temperature above and below media level, and their gentle control action is generally preferred for cell culture applications. BioFlo 110 water-jacketed vessels (above left) utilize a unique conductive heater in place of the usual recirculation pump. The heater sits directly under the water-jacket for more efficient use of bench space. The pump-free design improves reliability, reduces maintenance, and eliminates a major source of leaks in conventional water jacketed systems. Cooling is controlled by a solenoid valve which flows cold water into the jacket space as required. Alternatively, heat-blanketed vessels are available, featuring large cut-outs for easy viewing of the culture contents (above right). Both styles are available in four sizes, 1.3 - 14 L total volume. The BioFlo 110 is just one in a full line of research through pilot production systems available from New Brunswick Scientific (Nasdaq: NBSC). For more information, click here or write us.
