Off topic ... The engine/vehicle makers determine the oil change intervals and specify the oil quality they want. There is no conspiracy. It's not the oil companies which decide the drain interval, though they can advise the car makers.

Any self-respecting car should go 15,000 kilometres between oil changes and more...your mileage may vary; consult your owner's manual.

The oil industry tends to have common interests, such as keeping Iraqi oil off the markets which makes their higher cost production more profitable. Conspiracies happen more often due to shared interests and therefore common responses, rather than actual conpiratorial plans.

There are strong incentives for American oil companies to put a bullet through the middle east to maintain profits from the American companies' high-cost fields.
