Again, I receive an answer from farmer L and he obviously says T. And if I asked U he has the same opportunity to lie and say T. Therefore, I select T for one of the two remaining farmers. BUT it appears to me that either L could have lied and said T or U could have lied and said T. In either case I don't know if U or L lied and said T. The case has to be fool proof and I say you have not eliminated U with a single question to one and only one farmer.

You are getting hung up on irrelevance.
It does not matter who lied or who told the truth!
You do not know, nor do you care if you are asking the final question to T or L. It is irrelevant if the final quuestion is worded properly (hypothetical future question).

ALL that is impotant is thet the second question MUST NOT BE TO U.

That is the entire crux of the problem.

If you ask either T or L "what would YOU say......"
The answer is guaranteed to let you know what to to. It is imperative that you see this.

As for the initial question lets step thru the only 3 possibilities once more.

1) You randomly ask T which one of the other two is more prone to tell a lie. T will always point to L.
2) You ask L which of the other two is more prone to tell a lie. He will always lie and point to T.
3) You ask U which of the other two is more prone to tell a lie and who cares what the answer is. It IS IRRELEVANT cause that person will NEVER be U. He can not point to himself.

In all 3 scenarios above, regardless of whether you asked T L or U the person pointed out will NEVER be U.

At this point. Please say you agree or disagree with this. I do not know how you could possibly disagree.

Now, we do not know if the person selected was T or L we simply know 100% proof positive that it is not U.

Next we ask the person selected.
What would you say bla bal bal.
I am hoping you understand this question.
If not I will step thu the second half.
