I believe the sitting govts of the Arab countries do not have to be convinced that terrorists are bad. I think most of them get it, that even when they export the jerkwads to Afghanistan or Palestine, they risk some blowback someday, too.

That's why we're getting some unprecedented levels of cooperation from places like Syria and Iran. And certainly, I can agree that some degree of arrogant loner rattling a big sabre can be useful in our quest. But so can the role of conforming to the rule of our own laws.

It's a balance. And this time is one of those times where haste does not require ignoring that balance.

Are we going to stop them when it gets like it is with Saddam, or are we going to set on our hands?

I vote for taking them away from everybody we are big enough to take them away from. And I don't give a flip it it's not "nice." Children shouldn't be allowed to play with dangerous things.

If they get big enough to be the hegemon, then so be it.
