If you measure by income, the top earners pay the majority of taxes.

However if you measure by actual worth, the wealthy pay less than their so-called fair share. That is the top 1% in net worth pay less than 1% of taxes.

It's just another myth propagated by the right. Consider the regressive payroll taxes which are routinely counted as general revenue and which Bush counted as the over payment of taxes which necessitated a cut in progressive deficit producing income taxes... Oh yeah, and now they tell us SS is running out of money.

It's a shell game.
