Hi Maurice, <<Hong Kong will be valued in the same way as Shanghai. Are land and building values now equal? Pay rates? If not, the process presumably will continue with Shanghai pay rates increasing [slowly] and Hong Kong pay rates dropping [quickly]>>

Yes and No. Mostly yes, except I HOPE that a few meters of beach frontage in Freedom Hill Hong Kong will manage to hold its value, and I believe a few meters of beach front in Thailand will go up in value, all because of Shanghai. So far, so good.

<<I've unscrewed a few screws and done them up again, just for fun ... Made in China>> Yup, same observation, and Mazda 6 series will soon be mostly localized in China; 18 wheelers next.

Chugs, Jay

I bought a good quality battery-powered drill/screwdriver a few weeks ago Same here but I find the best quality stuff is still made in USA, Germany etc. I do a lot of home reno stuff and those keyless chuck battery powered drill / screw drivers are great but for more heavy duty applications requiring say a good hammer drill for masonry those cheaper brands aren't up to it yet. Mind you I use my tools a lot and not just for occasional repairs. Kastel
