FWIW, some Bears have been claiming that Spares and services are part of the Backlog now, thus making for a less Bullish comparison to previous cycles than it otherwise would be. Please note that this is NOT THE CASE. Apparently, some people have no problem spreading lies to make a few dollars. Sad. Spares and services NOT included....From the link: Bookings (Orders)The value of new orders net of cancellations (in thousands of U.S. dollars) for semiconductor equipment received by the manufacturer within the stated report period. If there were no bookings within the report period, zeroes should be reported. Spare parts orders, orders for service contracts, inter-division orders and orders from other semiconductor equipment manufacturers should not be included.
