I think the easiest way to show the split is by air interface....

Every major CDMA carrier has committed to Snaptrack.

The US GSM carriers have committed to E-OTD (a network based solution). They seem to be having trouble meeting the FCC guidelines right now.

The rest of the GSM world doesnt seem to have really committed to anything....as far as I can tell. The obvious guess is that they will follow the US GSM carriers.

If I remember correctly, Docomo has committed to their own A-GPS solution....this is what Nextel has done as well.

Leading Rural Wireless Carrier Also Selects Intrado for Phase II Wireless E9-1-1 Services and Extends its Phase I Contract

Boulder, Colo., (July 30, 2002) — Intrado Inc. (NasdaqNM: TRDO), the nation's leading provider of solutions that manage and deliver mission-critical information for telecommunications providers, today announced that Western Wireless (NasdaqNM: WWCA) will be the initial customer for its new Position Determining Entity (PDE) service. Western Wireless has also signed a three-year contract for Intrado's Transaction Services for Phase I and Phase II wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1), marking Intrado's twelfth Phase II customer win. Both the PDE and wireless E9-1-1 offerings are part of Intrado's IntelliVectorSM Network Transactions suite of services.

Intrado's PDE service will help wireless providers locate the latitude and longitude of a wireless caller. This ability allows carriers to cost-effectively implement location-based wireless E9-1-1 while at the same time laying the groundwork for future commercial location-based services (LBS).

Through alliances, Intrado's PDE service will deliver PDE deployment, application hosting and performance validation, as well as ongoing system support and management. Intrado is partnering with TechnoCom Corporation®, the leading provider of solutions for implementation, performance assurance and optimization of PDE technologies for CDMA and GSM carriers, to deliver the solution. The PDE service also includes HP's NonStop server-based PDE, incorporating the gpsOne technology from HP partner, Snaptrack.

"It was an easy decision to expand our relationship with Intrado since they have demonstrated expertise in emergency communications, superior technology and comprehensive solutions," said Eric Hertz, Chief Operating Officer, Western Wireless. "Intrado will help us stand by our commitment to provide our customers with effective and immediate access to emergency service wherever they are and meet future location-based needs."

"Western Wireless' decision to extend its contract with Intrado and sign on for our new PDE offering underlines their confidence in the value we bring to our customers," said Dan Hoskins, Vice President and General Manager of Intrado's Wireless Business Unit.

"The agreement also reiterates Western Wireless' commitment to providing its customers with innovative 9-1-1 services and technology, as well as meeting federal requirements."

Intrado, the trusted expert in database management, network transactions and notification technology, currently provides wireless E9-1-1 services to 24 wireless customers, including 12 of the top 15 wireless carriers. These carriers have selected Intrado to provide E9-1-1 services to an estimated 77 million U.S. subscribers as of March 31, 2002.

Safe Harbor Statement Under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995

This announcement contains forward-looking statements regarding Intrado's ability to deploy and implement PDE services in a manner that will enable wireless carriers, including Western Wireless, to implement location based E9-1-1 services in a cost-effective manner and to lay the groundwork for future commercial-based services. Readers are cautioned that actual results may differ materially from the forward-looking statements in this release as a result of certain factors, including: unforeseen delays in the deployment and implementation of PDE services and related wireless E9-1-1 services, the amount and timing of expenditures necessary to expand Intrado's infrastructure and meet the demands of wireless carriers, Intrado's ability to predict accurately the fixed and variable costs related to PDE and wireless E9-1-1 services offered to Western Wireless, and other factors identified from time to time in filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC").

Moreover, Intrado's future financial results may vary significantly from Intrado's expectations based on a number of factors, including: (1) Intrado's reliance on large contracts from a limited number of significant customers and their ability to pay for Intrado's services, (2) whether Intrado's investments in research and development will expand service offerings and prove to be economically viable, (3) the rate of adoption of enhanced 9-1-1 technology by telecommunications carriers and other potential customers, (4) continuing technological and regulatory changes in the telecommunications industry that may affect both Intrado and its customers, (5) service and price competition from entities with substantially greater resources than us, (6) technical difficulties and network downtime, including that caused by sabotage or unauthorized access to Intrado's systems, and (7) fluctuations in quarterly operating results that are due to factors beyond Intrado's control, including adverse trends in the telecommunications industry as a whole, and (8) additional factors described in Intrado's Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2001 and in other SEC filings.

Existing and prospective investors are cautioned not to place undue reliance on these forward-looking statements, which speak only as of the date hereof. Intrado undertakes no obligation to update or revise the information in this press release, whether as a result of new information, future events or circumstances, or otherwise.
