Saddam has to be dealt with somehow but if you think a war would be sanitized your crazy. He will withdraw all of his troops into the cities to fight door-to-door. Remember, he thinks he is the second coming of Nebuchadnezzar and will do anything in a 'last stand' scenario. Troops would be positioned within civilian homes and the world outrage would be 100 fold that of the Afghanistan bombings.

I hear you. But I heard 10 years ago how it was going to be a "meat grinder" and the "body bags would be coming home".

We're not going to be going after the troops. We're going to be going after Saddam and military infrastructure. We'll be using 80-90% precision guided munitions, and civilian and US military casualities will be minimized. This war, like the last Gulf War, will be the most sanitized war in history.

There will be a few civilian casualties & a few American military casualties. But all in all, a very worthwhile undertaking.

This is assuming, however, that there will be a war. Saddam is likely to cave at the last moment which will delay the war for some time while we see whether he will be cooperative or not.
