The friendZone service was programmed as particularly interesting to teenagers, offering them an interesting alternative to SMS and WAP message systems, introducing the community concept in cellular telephony, which is also quite diffused in Internet. Data and protection of privacy are one of the main priorities of the friendZone service; each single user must give his own explicit agreement to be localized by another user, and in any case, each user always knows who receives information related to the place he is located, and can prevent other users - even his / her own friends - from finding out his / her whereabouts at a given time. This last option, in particular, is automatically activated if users do not use the service for 30 days. The friendZone service is based on Valis' MulticoMM technology, which allows the operator to quickly create new cellular channels for different market segments. The version now available for Valis' cellmaZe provides such features as instant locator, instant messenger, chat WAP and SMS, privacy management system, games based on the position of user or communities, meeting management system, pre-paid credit card or bill charge payment procedures. Besides Switzerland, cellmaZe is already operating in Israel and will be adopted by other 4 European countries. Established in 1999 by Ariel and Oded Napchi with Ronny Golan, Valis provides end-to-end solutions to cellular network providers. Main investors are AOL, Time Warner and Polaris VC, the company's headquarters are in Tel Aviv, Israel. It isn't Snaptrack--no GPS. Wait 'til the Galileo satellites make all the non-GPS stuff the Europeans are working on obsolete. As Slacker has noted, it is not all that precise.
