I couldnt agree more, DuckTail... but huge pain in interim

we must invest in all you list
but we have put ourselves and our future temporarily in a deep ugly hole
we would have to put the entire economy on HOLD for about 3-5 years
our chance to cut the umbilical oil cord was 1980-1990
we failed, since our energy policy has become clearly "SUV"

our creeping socialism has cost us in a huge way
our tax structure has bound us toward inefficiency
our political system has crippled decision making
our investment has been in most of the wrong places
our corruption has maneuvered the nation into a corner
we are a nation of individuals living far beyond our means
and debt makes up the difference

now we are irreparably loaded with debt
the only way out is thru cleansing, with liquidations, bankruptcies, clearing the decks

nice idea, but how do we handle the interim?
the FOREX will handle it for us
I sense a path coming that parallels Argentina
sorry Ducky, too late

Scott: <<<<<Efficient auto & energy technologies...begin to cut the umbilical cord to oil

i couldn't agree more, try this site for an alternative energy play, www.rentechinc.com. ragingbull has a superb message board on them as well.

<<...It's time to stimulate the economy by reinvesting in ourselves, our country, our infrastructure.
Highway repair and improvement.... bridges, mass transit. Our infrastructure is dangerously neglected, no time better than now to attack the problem.

Efficient auto & energy technologies...begin to cut the umbilical cord to oil...>>

Scott: That makes TOO MUCH SENSE and I would be shocked if Shrub's Administration would propose anything that practical...=)
