Jeffrey, from the DJ story >Going into the first half of the year, chip equipment companies saw a surge in orders, as semiconductor manufacturers geared up for the second half of the year, seasonally the strongest time period for chip sales.<

Chip companies 'geared up' in 1H2002 to be able to supply chips in 2H2002? I think lead times are longer than that, especially if 'gearing up' means placing orders for front end equipment.

I'd like to hear some knowledgable comments on this.

Gottfried

Applied Materials (AMAT / Nasdaq)
Bank of America Montgomery
We believe the Street is becoming overly bearish about the company's outlook. No equipment company has reported a sharp falloff in July business. Reiterate our estimates and Buy rating.
