so exactly how is the K8 going to be a lot better than the now obsolete K7 again?

The 'Droid logic holds that 64 bits is "gooder" than 32 bits on all software tasks 'cause 64 bits is 2X the 32 bits in the K7

Not one of my teams. Another team where I work. They develop models of electrical generation and distribution systems.

You guys have all fallen for the skewed benchmarks distributed by Intel. A 9 pipeline processor, like Athlon, is generally 50% faster than a 6 pipeline processor, like P4 - it's what you'd expect, theoretically, and it's what we've seen in general use.

Sure, you can play games with benchmarks, but, in general, in real world use, 9 pipelines process data 50% faster than 6 pipelines, at any given mhz.
