Correction on one important point: The idea that Yucca threatened the resort industry is one of the earliest parts of the liberal Big Lie about the project. No less an authority than Steve Wynn has publicly stated that we should all quit worrying about this harmless storage facility 100 miles away. The industry tossed in a few bucks for the "cause" this summer, just to avoid the criticism from the local left wing propaganda rag. They gave far less than the liberals screamed for. They are not worried about Yucca, either. There was also a grass-roots attempt to get all the school kids to kick a buck (thank God the government education monopoly is about to become a thing of the past over the next 10 years), and IT fell flat.

The reason for the fundraising was a propaganda campaign nationwide to put pressure on Senators to vote against the dump. The campaign barely got in the air, and few Senators noticed. Harry Reid twisted every arm he could from his Minority Whip position. "Mr. Cleanface" failed at that, and now has no more favors for anything left in the session.

Harry was just never very bright-which means he's in the right party...
