When this was all happening, I was so deep in personal problems, I hardly knew who Bush was at the time.........I think my biggest concern was that the Gulf War might cause a reinstatement of the draft. So to answer your question, I was legitimately surprised that he let Saddam get away. Fair enough...at the time, you weren't aware, and so you may not have said a word. MOST LIBERALS would have come unglued, at the time. As to "letting Saddam get away", I think the remark just totally oversimplifies what really happened. But as you said, at the time you weren't really paying attention, so there really isn't any reason you should be aware of it.
