I'm just watching and waiting for the new version of "Saddam rips babies out of incubators" from Gulf War I.

That type of thing has been going on for at least as long as recorded history, so probably longer.

I think that the percentage of people who repeat urban legends without bothering to check first must be very high -- probably over 90%.

What incentive did that girl have for lying? Money? Congress bought her story when she testified before them and sold it to the rest of the country.

Throughout the campaign (to get sympathy for war), the Wirthlin Group conducted daily opinion polls to help Hill & Knowlton take the emotional pulse of key constituencies so it could identify the themes and slogans that would be most effective in promoting support for U.S. military action. After the war ended. the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation produced an Emmy award-winning TV documentary on the PR campaign titled "To Sell a War."

Personally, I'm just watching and waiting for the new version of "Saddam rips babies out of incubators" from Gulf War I. It's a war, and the first casualty is well known.

This is a regime that scarcely needs demonizing. We have had reliable evidence for many years, starting back in the days when Saddam was still our thug, that his police torture small children to break their parents.
