I bought a new PC from DELL with XP a few months back. It is not frustration-free, but it is far less frustrating than the Windows 9x operating systems. I would always recommend just replacing the PC rather than trying the upgrade thing. By the time your labor is factored in, you aren't saving any money by trying to reclaim the old PC. And the new ones are cheaper, faster, stronger, better, every year.

SmoothSail,

Installing a new operating system is a bitch for anyone, even someone who knows what they are doing.

Like gypsy, I have been very happy with WIN2000 Professional. It would probably work seamlessly with your current applications.

In Austin there is a number we can call and they will "send a nerd right over." There is probably the same thing there. I have worked with computers for years and wouldn't consider updating an operating system myself.

Just my opinion,

Norma
