Aug 15, 1971, 31 years tomorrow. Nixon decided that foreign debts would not be leveled with gold anymore. So, default is only towards foreigners (who own about 9.1 trillion Dollars of US debt and interests: all they can do with their Dollars is to keep buying other Dollars. Speak of holding an empty bag. <g>.)

I try to use Aug 1971 as a minimum when charting currencies.
