Lindsey says recession not Bush administration's fault

WASHINGTON, Aug 7 (Reuters) - White House Economic Adviser Lawrence Lindsey said on Wednesday a recession was under way when President George W. Bush came to power and suggested the former Clinton administration was disguising the fact.

Vice-President Dick Cheney, speaking in San Francisco earlier in the day, similarly said that it was "clear from the data that when President Bush and I took office, the nation had slid into a full-blown recession." (funny they didn't tell anybody then)
