That only applies to manufacturers that are already behind. I don't see Intel rushing to SOI, do you? They have a better solution called DST (the Depleted Substrate Transistor), and they will get to it when they have it perfected. In the mean time, they are ahead of the industry in other respects, like the strained silicon that the press thinks will cause the semiconductor manufacturers of the world to bang down the door of Amberwave Systems just to get at the stuff.
