You're confusing interest rate changes (monetary policy) with "anything". Fiscal policy, such as spending and tax changes, have impacts the day they are implemented.

No, I'm not. The consequences of spending and tax changes lag by about 18 months. Even the tax rebates of last year don't have a material effect on the economy within months.

It really isn't material to the argument, however. The entire notion that Bush did or did not do something that caused the economy to tank is absurd. The only thing Bush has done was shove tax cuts down the throat of Congress, most of which is well into the future. As we all know, tax cuts are good for the economy, not bad.

The liberals have no agenda of their own, and as a result their only chance is to attack Bush on the economy. It is pathetic.

There is also the very key issue of "leadership", in which the attitudes of people can be modified, sometimes very quickly, which also has a very big impact on the economy.

Well, WACO didn't impress anyone except the CEOs he invited.

Did you know Bush had a UPS driver and a waitress at the forum to show that he has the commoners' touch? Of course, after the forum was over, they had to bus tables and run people to the airport but what did they expect.........they are after all just common people. <g>
