Principal? That's funny. FAS 123 is not "ancient" - it is the attempt to expense stock options that was shot down by congress only a few years ago. You only dismiss it because it requires that the options be earned before they are expensed and, as a result, the impact on earnings isn't large enough to suit your desires to create shock and dismay among investors. It may not be perfect, but it IS what all those companies who recently said they'd expense options will be using, and it IS infinitely more fair and a better representation of real earnings that your idiotic "it's an expense at grant and I don't care if they haven't earned it or don't really own anything" position that no serious and objective observer would ever take. You are stuck in an emotional, "gotta get the bastards" mindset and it is blinding you to reason.
