"This is exasperating" Yes -- and today's Texas "love-in" is part of the problem rather that the solution. Investors want to know that Bush is not out of touch -- he could not have seemed more out of touch than to be surrounded by "yes-men" (in the broadest sense because there were of course some good people there) and then have Bush pumping out sounds bites to the effect that things are going great with the economy. O'Neil's media blitz a few weeks ago could not have been more poorly timed -- he told us the economy was doing great and then day-after-day the economic numbers said "the economy is in trouble". That was about the time he also made friends in Brazil by saying the US won't help Brazil so long as it is so corrupt.
