I wonder if any vehicle that gives a return cant be used as long as a person is diligent about adding money and using the time factor or in other words start young. I wonder if the lure of stocks isn't feeding our greed side in looking for more at a faster clip and many don't factor in the risk.

Of course any well balanced retirement plan is going to utilize at least some bonds or interest bearing devices. If this bear market hasn't pointed anything else out it should have brought that point to home. I think the quick rule is 100 - your age is the right amount of exposure to stocks. I would bet most of us are well over that number:)
