OK Mq, i `ll tone down my remarks a bit... Once you bring Greyhound terminal buses into the picture, i concede defeat... The one in Seattle was actually not bad nevertheless, not a place you want to hand around after dark... I guess what i was trying to express was the rate of change, in five years violent crimes seem to have become common place, especially crimes where the goal is money (insurance schemes, theft etc) or the truly deranged, alienated type who kills for the thrills. Petty crimes, break and entries, car theft and the like is still very low, especially in the country side. A big part i figure has to do with the age of the population... fewer young destitute males... But still, you`d be surprised at how much things have changed.
