Luddite. -g-

I finally caved for one last month. What a waste. If they think I'm going to pay for 3G crap video on top of crap audio...fuggedaboudit. All I want is a freaking cell phone that can make land line quality calls. Overhyped gimcrackery as far as I'm concerned.

From Jim Seymour at RealMoney. How people can interpret this as good news is astonishing.

IBM's Cuts Focused on Services Arm
8/14/02 07:33 AM ET

Maybe the most surprising thing about the IBM cuts is that 14,000+ were in Global Services, IBM's services/consulting arm -- where Lou Gerstner devoted most of his attention, as he grew the services side of the business.
Could this be a sign of successor Sam Palmisano setting out on his own path?

Or, likelier, is it just the swarm of 30,000 PWC people coming in now that drove this shift...?

...IBM's announcement last night of a 15,000-plus cut in staff will probably move the stock up today. Not enough, and too late -- but better than never!
